Listen carefully guys. I just bought GTA V and it flat out stutters like crazy. I did every single fix that is on the internet believe me. I've lowered my settings, overclocked my GPU and CPU, then underclocked them, installed and reinstalled all sorts of different versions of drivers from AMD. I've used batch files to start it up quicker, I set Windows 7-64bit for best performance I used game
8 Graphics: Red Dead Redemption 2. Grand Theft Auto V launched for last gen systems in 2013 and was later ported to the new generation. Even though the PS4 version looks better, it's still a six-year-old game. A game from just a year ago that was able to take full advantage of the new consoles is, of course, going to look better by comparison. 1. pawlik23 • 4690K@4.5|R9 390 • 9 yr. ago. Texture quality, shadows, additional effects like blur or DoF are GPU intensive. Physics, AI and sounds are CPU intensive. A lot depends on the optimization of the game, for example RIFT puts a lot of stress on CPU instead of GPU. GTA 5 is much more CPU intensive compared to GPU, as it is playable on a 512MB GPU and will still run fine without LAG or anything at the lowest settings and resolution, however, the CPU plays a much bigger role in it.

Open Steam and head to the Library. In the list of games, right-click on GTA V. Click on Properties and then navigate to the Local Files tab on the left. Click "Verify integrity of game files…" to begin the file restoration process. Verifying Integrity of Game Files through Steam.

The recommended specifications claim you need a modern quad core processor ( i5 3470 ) but a GTX 660 / HD 7870 will do good as well. Judging by this, as well as their track record with GTA IV, I would place a bet on the idea that GTA V is to be CPU intensive, but should run quite fine on a mid-range GPU.
A nice touch here is that in the graphics options menu, God of War shows you the resolution being rendered by the engine and then the output target to the screen.
I have a 940MX GPU laptop with an i7 processor and 16 GB RAM. In this, GTA V runs fine (30 FPS) at 1024 × 768 resolution and low to medium settings. So I thought since GTA IV is 4 years older than this, it would have a little less realistic graphics and be less resource-consuming.. But to my surprise, even at lower settings (all settings and details are at their lowest) and lower resolution Posted May 23, 2015. Now with my Titan X sli my gpu usage is 50% and my fps fluctuates from 50-100. I would greatly appreciate any help. For the most part, as long as you aren't overheating your cpu over and over, it will last a long time even with an overclock. The parts related to the increased voltage will shave a bit off their life though. sleezeep • 8 yr. ago As said above as long as you dont cause excessive heat chances are you won't cause extra stress in the components. I know that in most games as you raise the view distance you increase workload on the CPU. So in an open world game, try lowering the view distance.

Two things have been said: 4K 60fps runs on a 5820K and 2 980's 1080p, 60fps, medium: runs on a i5-3570 and R9 270. So I am leaning towards GPU heavy but still needs a mid-range CPU. Sounds like the game is multithreaded well too. 5 Sareus • 9 yr. ago Recommended specs are for High graphic settings e1ghtSpace • 9 yr. ago .
